Frequently Asked Questions
The Iceman
Question: Can the visual alarm be used without the audible alarm?
I do not want my neighbor to know that I am catching anything.
Answer: Yes, there is a switch to turn off the audible alarm while keeping the red LED indicator light activated.
Q: Can the alarm system be used with the jigging system
turned off?
A: Yes, there is a switch to turn the jigging system off. The alarm can still be activated if you prefer to fish this way.
Q: How many batteries does the Iceman use?
A: The Iceman runs on four AA batteries.
Q: Why are Nickel Metal Hydride batteries preferred?
A: Rechargeable AA Nickel Metal Hydride batteries work the
best in cold weather based on test results. Lithium AA batteries
also work great. Ni-Cad and Alkaline batteries
work fine and can be used, but they may freeze after a while when
in use in cold temperatures.
Q: Will water on the bite detection system affect the
sensitivity?
A: No. The circuitry used for that system has been thoroughly
tested and water does not affect the sensitivity.
Q: What is the benefit of jigging the bait?
A: Jigging the bait attracts fish to bite. In colder temperatures, you need to get a fish’s attention and
interest. Fish move around slowly in cold water their appetites decrease as well. Jigging indices a fish to take the bait.
Q: When a fish is on the line, won't it pull the Iceman into the water?
A: Not if you secure the Iceman to something sturdy before putting it near the hole. There is a hook on the back of the Iceman that you must use to tie it down. Failure to do so could result in damage to the product and potentially void the warranty.
